The Canon RF 100-300 2.8 As A Wildlife Lens

Time and time again, it has been stated on the the internet that the Canon RF 100-300 2.8 is not a wildlife lens. Â I have used this lens extensively in Churchill, Yellowstone, India and Uganda. Â Soon I will be taking the 100-300 2.8 on my Katmai, Alaska Coastal Brown Bear trip along with the Canon RF 600 f/4. Â It will be interesting to see which lens is used more in the environment Katma offers. Â The Canon RF 100-300 2.8 is maybe Canon's most versitile lens especially with the way it can take the RF 1.4x and RF 2x teleconverter. Â There is virtually no image quality loss with the 1.4x and even with the Canon RF 2x teleconverter, you will still have tons of keepers of fantastic images. Â Â Â

Many are waiting for the mythical 200-500 f/4 that is the supposed replacement for the Canon EF 200-400 f/4 TC, I have to wonder with the versatility of the Canon RF 100-300mm 2.8, is this is the replacement not only for the EF 300mm 2.8 but also the EF 200-400 f/4 TC. Â The 100-300 2.8 is one of Canon's sharpest lenses.

Below are three sets of galleries with the RF 100-300 2.8 with and without the Canon teleconverters. You can decide for yourself!
