2025 Katmai Coastal Brown Trip Report
The 2025 Katmai Coastal Bear trips were a huge success. We enjoyed an immerse amount of bear viewing as we enjoyed delicious gourmet meals, hot showers and a warm bed every night on the boat. Each trip we focused on the bears and their behavior in its natural environment undisturbed by humans and large crowds. One of the many reasons this trip differentiates from other bear trips is the lack of crowds and the ability to go to areas others cannot.
We began our trip by boarding a float plane and departed for our vessel in Geographic Bay of the Katmai Coast. The plane is just under an hour, but offers a scenic view from Kodiak Island to our boat.

Our vessel:

The boat is comfortable and the food cannot be matched. Our personal chef will make sure your palate is fulfilled with sensational meals and any diet can be accommodated from vegan to carnivore as well as special requests.

After landing and being transported to our boat, we are treated to an orientation and then lunch, after that we head out for our first bear viewing experience.
These two trips were at the end of the season, where the weather can be a bit unpredictable, and we did get some rain, but overall the weather was fantastic. With the bears we got a nice mix of bears fishing the last salmon runs of the season as well as males contesting a strength of test with each other.

After spending some time in Geographic Harbor, we moved on to other areas of the coast, another advantage of being on the boat - the ability to explore other spots as well as move from bad weather if needed and head towards fantastic weather. We spend the next several days watching bears fish, bears snorkeling for fish, bears wrestling with each other and even got to see a mom with coy. The trip was amazing and the guests had a fantastic time, with one who had been to other areas of Alaska for bear viewing stating this trip blew the others out of the water.

Our trips are for everyone, whether you are a beginner photographer, a seasoned professional photographer or just a nature and bear lover, I hope you'll join me in June or late July 2026 for a once in a lifetime experience.
